Hańba! is a punk-folk collective from Krakow, passionately dedicated to reviving the spirit of street poetry and rebellion. Known for their musical manifestos about pre-war Poland, this time the band delves into a new theme—the present day. At the invitation of the Warsaw Autumn festival, the musicians have ventured into an uncharted territory: performing live with completely new songs, written especially for them by 10 independent composers (including Rafał Zapała) associated with new music.
All that is tied together by Grzegorz Uzdański’s lyrics—spot-on, ironic, and acutely relevant. Hańba! still play with an edge, delivering it raw and uncompromisingly, but instead of stories from the period of the Sanation regime, they tackle the realities of Poland today. Here, the energy of punk meets new music, while folk instruments are given a new lease of life, precisely where tradition intersects with the anxieties of the present day.
