SERIAL POETS
We showcase authors, volumes of contemporary poetry and prose published as part of three series: Biblioteka Poezji Współczesnej (Contemporary Poetry Library), Wielkopolska Biblioteka Poezji (Greater Poland Poetry Library) and Biblioteka Prozy Współczesnej (Contemporary Prose Library). “Books have to go out and reach people instead of lying in stacks at the warehouse. Therefore we invite our authors to meet and talk the readers in the hospitable rooms of CK ZAMEK. We discuss literature and life alike. It usually turns out that behind interesting poems one finds very interesting authors,” says Mariusz Grzebalski. Serial Poets are hosted at ZAMEK roughly once a month (with 43 meetings held by 2016, featuring over 100 authors from Poznań, Greater Poland and the entire country). After the soiree in Poznań, Serials set off to spread the word across Poland: in Łódź, Wrocław, Warsaw, Szczecin, Gdańsk, Mikołów, Białystok, Toruń and Lublin. Grzebalski adds, “Our books premiere at CK ZAMEK, therefore each such event is accompanied by a tremendous amount of emotions. Each meeting is different, because every author is a distinct personality and their work is so diverse. These are clashes of languages, styles, creative and life experience.” Serial Poets also stand for a unique opportunity of listening to the authors as they read out their poems. The list of guests featured so far is a long one: from Szczepan Kopyt to Jacek Podsiadło, from Kira Pietrek to Bianka Rolando, from Marcin Ostrychacz to Jakub Kornhauser, from Edward Pasewicz to Piotr Sommer, from Barbara Klicka to Julia Szychowiak. Our audience comes to meet debuting authors and those who have won renown and recognition; they encounter poetry which later goes on to win the country over, captivating the readers and reaping accolades and awards.
