23. MDFF OFF CINEMA \ film criticism workshop \ enrol by October 5th

Critical workshops are a staple event at the OFF CINEMA Festival, offering a splendid opportunity for students, film experts, cinema enthusiasts and those who have only just ventured into professional writing about the cinematographic art. This three-day training with accomplished professionals in the field—for whom writing means daily business—will show you the ropes of being a film critic and provide a platform to hone your skills. The workshop will be taking place in two 10-person groups from October 16th to 18th, in the Rehearsal Room at ZAMEK Culture Centre in Poznań (3rd floor in the new wing).

Adriana Prodeus

Adriana Prodeus is a film critic affiliated with the KINO monthly; her texts have been featured in Newsweek, Film, as well as online at Stopklatka, Portal Filmowy, and Dwutygodnik. Prodeus has also hosted and made shows for TVP1, TVP2 and PR2. Graduate in Art History and exhibition curator (recently at the Gdańsk City Gallery) and co-curator of Dzikie Pola. Historia Awangardowego Wrocławia, Geppert Painting Competition in Wrocław, and SURVIVAL Art Review. Currently columnist at Vogue Polska, author of the monograph Themersonowie. szkice biograficzne and chapters in numerous publications (the most recent published by the Zachęta National Gallery of Art). Curator of the adaptations review at the International Short Story Festival and, previously, curator of the Polish animated film review at the Anthology Film Archive in New York. Lecturer at the Artes Liberales Faculty, University of Warsaw, University of Lower Silesia in Wrocław, Institute of Art, Polish Academy of Sciences, as well as Film Studies teacher at the SWPS University of Social Sciences and Humanities and the Academy of Fine Arts[s1] . It may be noted that Prodeus specializes in film avant-garde and animated film. Professionally active as an author, curator, and teacher, she was also vice-director of the Centre For Contemporary Art Ujazdowski Castle and literary director at the “KADR” Film Studio.

Bartosz Żurawiecki

Bartosz Żurawiecki is a film critic, journalist, columnist and writer. Head of the reviews department of the KINO monthly. Winner of the award of the Polish Film Institute for the blog Czego nie widać and recipient of the Krzysztof Mętrak Award for young film critics. Co-founder and actor of the cabaret Barbarzyń Co-author of books: Homofobia po polsku, Autorzy polskiego kina, Parametry pożądania, David Cronenberg w oczach krytyków. Author of the novels Trzech panów w łóżku, nie licząc kota (wydawnictwo Sic!, 2005), Ja, czyli 66 moich miłości (Sic!, 2007), Nieobecni (Wydawnictwo Krytyki Politycznej, 2011), Do Lolelaj. Gejowska utopia (Szafa, 2017) and the collection of theatre plays entitled Erotica alla polacca (Sic!, 2006).
