This summer will see us looking together for an
alternative to mass tourism, so as to discover new forms of leisure. We would like the concept of sustainable
travelling to become a foundation of our holiday choices. Our 2019 catalogue
offers new destinations and the most fashionable forms of spending one’s
holidays: Microexpeditions and Urban Safari. Families with children can take advantage
of our daily activities: The Map Laboratory and the Castle Summer for Children.
Adults are welcome to the Traveller’s Guide, a series of meetings introducing the latest trends in tourism,
such as zero waste and nocarbonfootprints. In the evenings, though not only
then, we are going to meet for the screenings as part of the Castle Film
Summer.
The highlights of our Summer 2019 brochure:
Microexpeditions will show you that summer adventure is within easy reach, whether by bike or by tram. During our guided walks, we are going to take a peek into the cellars and attics of the erstwhile Imperial Castle, discover the secrets of the city’s parks: those with trees and... cars. We will also look at the city from a bird’s eye view, follow the mural trail, and immerse ourselves in the painterly tales of the sea.
Urban Safari is just the thing for those people who wish to spend their
summer actively and explore creative perspectives in the cityscape, by
means of postcard-making and photography workshops. There will also be
time to sit oneself down in a park and weave a dreamcatcher from the
sticks and grass found there.
Traveller’s Guide promises an ample dose of knowledge about aware
travelling. Workshops and film screenings will show us how our travels
affect the environment, while meetings with the authors of Mikrowyprawy w
wielkim mieście, Droga 816 and Hajstry. Krajobrazy bocznych dróg, will
introduce us to the ways of looking for alternatives to mass tourism.
Castle Film Summer is an opportunity to take advantage of the
comfortable seats at the Pałacowe Cinema, and thus travel to remote
places and bygone ages. Each cinematic journey means a different point
of view. The youngest viewers are welcome to attend our Mornings for
Children, while the somewhat older audience will be able to enjoy the
greatest box office hits of the last season.
Castle Summer for Children is a summer encounter with extraordinary
stories and colourful imagery at the Theatre of Touch and the Large-Size
Theatre. Story-tellers will enchant us with tales in the series
entitled The Explorer’s Diaries, while Fun Zone workshops will offer an
opportunity for the young participants to explore their talents and
discover new passions.
The Map Laboratory, taking place in our Exhibition Hall, is an invitation to a creative journey across places that are real and well-known, as well as to venture into imaginary worlds. Bring your family to fashion a map of any lands you may have dreamed of, and contribute to a spatial, subjective map of Poznań during workshops conducted by artists. The Map Laboratory will run throughout July.
