Sensitive Images is a film series dedicated to social
cinema which addresses local and global issues of the world we live in. In the
course of meetings with a range of invited guests, we will discuss civic
engagement, cultural diversity, ecology, and social inequalities. We are going
to ask questions about the understanding of freedom today and about
responsibility for ourselves and the community we are a part of. Together, we
are going to watch films that won awards at major international festivals (such
as Taxi Teheran, this April). The
screenings will be available in audio description mode and subtitled for
persons with impaired hearing. The entire programme is divided into several
themed sections. The first, entitled “Exercises in Diversity”, will be
concerned with various aspects of multiculturalism. We will take a look at it
from a geographically distant perspective and from the local viewpoint of our
everyday lives, trying to find out whether we are different from the
protagonists on screen or whether they are quite like us after all.
